You keep on trying but it just won't budge. You keep getting error popup windows. You think maybe you've typed the wrong password. So you go to your computer and log in to Gmail and the password is correct.
So what's wrong here? How do you solve this error?
The error popup message may look like the following:
Password Incorrect
Enter the password for the Exchange account '(email account name)'
or
Cannot Get Mail
The user name or password for '(email account name)' is incorrect"

Root Cause
There are two possible root causes:
1. You have enabled the two-step verification process for your Gmail account. That's why when you've entered the correct password it's not enough to pass the verification process.
2. You do not have the two-step verification, but as a security precaution, Google may require you to complete an additional step when signing into a new device or application.

Solution #1
If your account uses 2-Step Verification, you can sign in to your Gmail account on your computer and go to settings and disable the two-step verification process. Once you are done, go back to your smartphone or smart device and try again.
